The CB "Vintage 18" Limited Edition

I got the idea for this guitar from the repair (or, more accurately, the rebuild) of a guitar I nicknamed "Lazareth": this was a 1974 D-18 Martin that somebody had totally smashed except for the neck and neck block. I kept the neck and neck block for years, and really didn't know what to do with them; as a 1974 Martin, the guitar really wasn't worth all the work involved in its resurrection. Then it hit me one day to rebuild it as a 1936 D-18 copy.

The rebuild was so successful I decided to build a series of 20 vintage 18 style guitars like you see here. These guitars will have Adirondack Spruce tops, 40 year old Mahogany back & sides, scalloped Adirondack braces, and ribbon side braces, all assembled with hide glue and finished in Antique Natural. I'm calling them The Vintage 18, or the Lazareth Model, a play on words after one of my favorite Biblical works of Jesus, the resurrection of Lazarus from the dead.
