The CB "Herringbone" in Mahogany
Mahogany has gotten something of a "bad rap" over the years because some manufacturers have used it for their "cheaper" instruments. While run-of-the-mill Mahogany may be a bit less expensive than Rosewoods or more exotic woods, fine Honduras Mahogany is becoming ever-harder to obtain in the fine grades Chris requires. CB Guitars uses only the finest Mahogany available, and each set is hand-picked for tonal potential and beauty.
Many players (including Doc Watson, Norman Blake, and Chris Bozung) prefer Mahogany over Indian Rosewood because of its great clarity of tone and cutting ability for lead guitar playing. In fact, the guitar pictured on this page is Chris' personal Herringbone, and it is the guitar he reaches for when he needs a "Blue Grass Cannon" that really stands out in a band setting!
