Cutaway CB Super with "Style 41" Abalone trim

Chris created this instrument for a discriminating customer who needed his guitar to "cut through" in a large band setting. The large body size, coupled with the Alpine Spruce top (tonally identical to Engelmann) and Indian Rosewood back & sides yielded a powerful guitar with a warm, sweet tone. For playing lead lines up the neck, Chris designed a special cutaway for maximum tone and beauty.

Chris' client also wanted a guitar of striking visual appeal, and specified a custom dark reddish sunburst, "Style 41" abalone top purfling (which is the same as Style 42 except for the "connecting links" beside the fretboard extension) "Rose Vine" fretboard inlays, abalone and mother-of-pearl "Rose" peghead inlay, and gold-plated Waverly tuners with black pearl buttons.

Top Finish: Hand stained vintage-style Sunburst (custom color).

Top Binding: Grained ivoroid with highly-figured Abalone purfling.

Back Binding: Multiple grained ivoroid.

Neck: Modified "V"-profiled Mahogany with diamond volute, "Rose" inlay on heel cap.

Peghead: Bound with black overlay & Chris' trademark "Rose" inlay of Mother-of-Pearl and Abalone.

Tuning Machines: Gold-plated Waverly vintage-style open-back with black pearl buttons.

Fretboard: Double-bound Ebony with Chris' trademark "Rose Vine" inlay.

Bridge: Chris' trademark striped Ebony "Moustache" bridge with "Rose" inlay and bone bridge pins w/abalone dots.
